How does it work with vignettes or environmental stickers abroad?

Our shared cars are not equipped with vignettes or environmental stickers by default. You are responsible for arranging and displaying the correct stickers and vignettes when driving abroad. An environmental sticker is required in Belgium, Germany, France and Spain (mainly in cities). A motorway vignette is required in Bulgaria, Hungary, Moldova, Austria, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Switzerland. Some stickers are sent by post, which can take time. So make sure to apply in advance.

Make sure to check the rules of your destination and any countries you pass through beforehand. That way, you won’t run into surprises. In some countries, there are also additional requirements for the car, such as snow chains in winter. In parts of Germany, electric cars get parking discounts and access to city centres, provided you apply for a blue sticker.

Tip: The ANWB offers a complete and up-to-date overview of traffic rules per country: ANWB Landeninformatie. On our car page, you can see what our cars are equipped with as standard.

For some applications, such as an environmental sticker for Ghent, you’ll need the vehicle registration certificate. Request this via our customer service at (+31) 010 7933 970.
