Which lights should I use?

Dipped beam

When it’s dark, dipped beam is your standard light. This means your headlights, rear lights and number plate lights are on. It’s also required in poor visibility (rain, fog, snow) and in tunnels.

Side lights

Use this light when you park at night (or during the day in poor visibility) outside built-up areas or on the road. You don’t use side lights while driving. They’re meant to make your stationary car visible to other road users.

High beam

High beam provides the strongest light on the road. Handy to see more in the dark, but also very dazzling for oncoming traffic and drivers in front of you (via their mirrors). So switch off your high beam when another vehicle approaches.
